Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday congratulated the state’s para athlete Shailesh Kumar for winning the gold medal in the men’s high jump event of the ongoing World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi and announced a prize of Rs 75 lakh.
The Chief Minister congratulated Shailesh, a resident of Jamui district in a post on ‘X’, and said, “This achievement of Shailesh is a proof that there are positive changes in the world of sports in Bihar.” ,
He said that in addition to cash prizes under the Sports Award Scheme, a 25 -year -old para athlete will also be provided a memento by the state government. The 2023 Asian Para Games champion Shailesh won the gold medal by breaking the record of the World Championship by jumping 1.91 meters in a high jump T63 event on the first day of the competition.
