Delhi government appeals to review Supreme Court’s 2018 order
The Delhi government has requested the Supreme Court to review the order of the year 2018, in which diesel more than 10 years old and more than 15 years old petrol vehicles were banned. On the basis of this order of the court, the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) had ordered not to fuel the old vehicles. After which the Delhi government has also opposed the order of CAQM in its petition.
Studies should be done to confirm more pollution than old trains
The petition states that now the technology has improved. Vehicles spread less pollution due to the implementation of BS VI standard. Therefore, the ban on vehicles based on the age of the vehicle will not be considered scientifically correct. Due to this order, people will be burdened with unnecessarily buying a new car. First it should be studied whether all old vehicles really pollution.
NGT Delhi government also challenged the decision in 2015
The Delhi government of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has also opposed the order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in 2015, which was confirmed by the Supreme Court in the year 2018. The petition states that there are many reasons for air deterioration. This includes many things like burning stubble, industrial pollution, dust of construction works, weather conditions. In such a situation, the ban on vehicles is not right only, this will increase the problems of common people.
