External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has given a big statement regarding trade talks between India and America. He told that this conversation is still going on. S Jaishankar said on Friday (August 22, 2025) that there is still a business talks between India and the US, it cannot be said in any sense that the conversation is closed. People talk to each other. Red line drawn on farmers’ interests
Jaishankar made it clear that India has taken some red lines, including the most important farmers and small producers. He said that the government is not ready to compromise on these issues, as far as we are concerned, our concerns are related to the interests of farmers and small producers to some extent.
The talks have not stopped- Jaishankar
During a program, when he was questioned about the status of Indo-US trade talks, Jaishankar said that no one has talked about stopping or ending the talks. He said, “The conversation is going on. Nobody said that the talks have stopped.”
US team trip postponed
Jaishankar’s statement came at a time when some reports said that the visit of the American team coming to India for the next round of business talks can be postponed.
American tariff spoiled business relations
Trade relations between India and the US were shocked when US President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on Indian imports. After this, he also threatened to double it from 27 August.
Trump also comments on foreign policy
On this platform, Jaishankar also commented on President Trump’s foreign policy. He said that he has never seen any US President, who has run foreign policy so publicly. This method is very different from traditional methods and is not limited to India only.
Indication on Russian Oil Purchase
Jaishankar also indicated that the US government decided to put a tariff on Indian imports without discussing India’s issue of buying Russian oil.
