‘Not education and medical service, became a business’, a big statement by Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat expressed concern over the commercialization of medical and education in the country on Sunday (July 10, 2025) that it is the demand of the hour to provide ‘spontaneous, accessible, cheap and gentle’ facilities to the common people in both important areas.
Bhagwat inaugurated the ‘Madhav Srishti Arogya Center’ for affordable treatment of cancer patients in Indore. This center has been started by the Parmarth Sangathan named ‘Guruji Seva Nyas’. The Sangh chief said at a function on the occasion, ‘All the schemes of good medical and education have become a great need for every person in the society today, but unfortunately, the good facilities of both the areas are outside the scope of reach and economic strength of the common man.’
Medical and education became commercial
He said, “Earlier, work was done in the spirit of service in the fields of medical and education, but now they have also been made commercial (commercial).” The Sangh chief insisted that the people are demanding time to provide ‘spontaneous, accessible, inexpensive and gentle’ facilities in the fields of medical and education.
Bhagwat also expressed concern over the expensive treatment of cancer in the country. He said, ‘Good facilities for cancer treatment are present in only eight-ten cities, where patients from all over the country have to spend big money.’ Bhagwat called upon the competent and capable people of the society to come forward to present good medical and education facilities for the common people.
Religion makes society advanced
The Sangh chief said, ‘Words like Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are extremely technical and formal. We have a word in the context of service-religion. Religion means to fulfill social responsibility. Religion connects society and improves society.
Bhagwat also said that western countries think of applying to countries in other parts of the world in the field of medicine, but patients in Indian medical practices are treated based on their different nature.
