Olympian Sushil Kumar’s bail canceled, Supreme Court asked Surrender in 1 week

Sushil Kumar, accused in the Sagar Dhankad murder case, has suffered a setback from the Supreme Court. The court has canceled the bail of the Olympic medalist wrestler and asked to surrender within 1 week. Sagar’s father Ashok Dhankad reached the Supreme Court against the bail from the High Court.

Senior advocate Siddharth Mridul, appearing for Ashok Dhankad in front of the bench of Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, had argued the witnesses of the case with the release of Sushil. Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for Sushil, had said that the delay in the lower court in the testing of witnesses is not the fault of Sushil. His bail should not be canceled.

The court accepted the argument of Sagar’s father and canceled the High Court order which came on March 4 this year. In the High Court, Sushil had said that he has been closed for more than 3 and a half years. Justice Sanjeev Narula gave bail to Sushil by delaying the delay in testing of witnesses and the slow pace of the case.

Former Junior National Wrestling Champion Sagar Dhankad was seriously injured in the parking lot of Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi on 4 May 2021. It is alleged that Sushil along with his colleagues beaten Sagar due to a mutual dispute, which led to his death.
