‘Our advice was not accepted in many departments in 23 cases related to corruption’, Central Vigilance Commission said

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has said in its latest annual report that there are 23 cases where government departments ignored his advice to a large extent in connection with corruption. He said that the maximum number of five cases of these are related to the Ministry of Railways and two each are related to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL).

The Commission says that each case was related to Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Indian Aircraft Pate Group Authority (AAI), IDBI Bank Limited and Indian Overseas Bank.

The Commission gave its annual report in 2024 Central Indirect Taxes and Customs Board (CBIC), ‘Cotton Corporation of India (CCI)’, ‘Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MCL)’, ‘Central Coalfields Limited (CCL)’, Border Roads Organization (BRO), Border Roads Organization (BRO), Bandar Road Organization (BRO), Prasar Bharati and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.

The recent report of this institution that ensures purity in the administration said that the vigilance process is corrupted by not obeying the advice of the Commission and the fairness of vigilance administration is weakened. The Central Vigilance Commission supervises the vigilance administration of the Central Government, its corporations, companies and societies etc. and advises on vigilance matters.

The report states that this advice by the Commission is given on the basis of rational evaluation of all facts, documents and records related to a particular case, which the concerned organization brings to its notice. The report states, in the most cases, accepting the rational advice of the Commission by disciplinary authorities, the commission’s advice is a sign of objectivity and fairness.

The report said that in some cases of officers coming under the jurisdiction of the Commission, either the prescribed counseling system was not followed with the Commission or the concerned authorities did not accept the advice of the Commission.
