Passenger was given dirty seat in flight, now one will have to pay a fine of one and a half lakh and the cost of the case, know the whole matter
Indigo airline has been fined Rs 1.5 lakh. Delhi’s Consumer Forum has ruled on the complaint of a passenger. The passenger alleged that I was given a dirty seat in a flight coming from Baku to Delhi, the capital of Azerbaijan. The Consumer Forum found the airline company guilty of reducing service and fined Rs 1.5 lakh.
On January 2 this year, a passenger coming to New Delhi from Baku was provided dirty and tainted seats. The victim had complained to the Delhi Consumer Forum, after which the airline was convicted for being found guilty of lack of service. For the inconvenience, pain and mental anguish to the passenger, the forum has ordered a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh to IndiGo.
What did the Consumer Forum say in its decision?
The passenger also alleged that his complaint related to the issue was dismissed and taken in a very insensitive manner. However, the airline said that he paid attention to his inconvenience and also provided him a separate seat, on which he traveled voluntarily and completed his journey to New Delhi.
Based on the evidence offered by the Consumer Forum on 9 July, we said, “We find the opponent (IndiGo) guilty of lack of service. The forum further said,” He (passenger) has a compensation to be compensated. ” We instruct the opponent to give him a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh for mental pain, physical pain and harassment. Apart from this, the airlines have also been instructed to pay Rs 25,000 as the cost of the trial.
The forum said in its order that the airline did not provide the situation of situation data display (SDD), which is a component of the required internal operating records under the standard aviation protocol. There is no reference to this report in a written statement or evidence presented by the defendant. SDD is an important document that is used to make flight operations monitoring and record passenger events.
