‘People said .. and had to kill’, IAF chief said about operation vermilion on Pakistan

On Saturday (August 09, 2025) on the action of ‘Operation Sindoor’ on Pakistan, Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Amarpreet Singh said that after India’s accurate attack on terrorist camps, people close to him said, ‘And had to kill’, that is, to say that India should have done further attacks on Pakistan.

He said, ‘Our aim was absolutely clear. Our aim was to teach the terrorists such a lesson that they would think twice before doing anything; Now they know how much they may have to pay for it and once we achieve this purpose, we should find all opportunities to stop it, instead of continuing it.

First official comment on loss of Pakistan

Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh said that the Indian Air Force has confirmed the killing of five Pakistan’s fighter aircraft and a large aircraft during ‘Operation Sindoor’. He described it as the biggest record of killing it from the surface from the surface from India.

This is the first official comment on the damage caused to Pakistan during the Indian aerial attacks carried out three months ago. Many opposition leaders are attacking the government for delay in disclosing the losses to both India and Pakistan during ‘Operation Sindoor’. The campaign was run from May 7 after the death of 26 people in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April.

Correct information about hitting 5 aircraft

Singh has given Air Chief Marshal L.M. During the 16th edition of the Katre Smriti Lecture, he also presented a detailed details of the attacks carried out near the border and on the terrorist headquarters and other terrorist bases within the border.

He said, ‘We have the correct information about the killing of at least five fighter aircraft and a large aircraft, either aircraft or AWC (Airborne Warning and Control System), which was targeted from a distance of about 300 kilometers. This is actually the biggest record of killing the surface to the air, which we have achieved.

No harm to Indian installations

Singh said, ‘There have been indications of having at least one AWC in that AWC Hanger and some F-16 were also damaged, which were for maintenance there’. Singh said that as a result of this operation, a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drones and some of their missiles also fell into the Indian territory, but they did not harm Indian establishments.

Describing ‘political will’, a major reason behind the success of ‘Operation’, Singh said, ‘I am showing very clear, very openness here, because I have heard various things about it. If I would say something to you, people will have to believe in him, because I was there, listening to everyone and was involved in it, there was very clear political will, we were given very clear instructions and no ban was imposed on us.

No restrictions on us

He said that people are asking whether there were any restrictions or we were kept forced. He said, ‘If there were any restrictions, they were self -made. We decided what would be the rules of fighting. To what extent do we want to go and how do we want to control the situation.

Singh said, ‘Therefore I want to make it clear that there was no restriction on us, I repeat that there was no restriction. We were given complete freedom to plan and implement it. I want to say that our attacks were made accurate and thoughtfully, because we wanted to show maturity in this matter.

Indian Army heavy on Pakistan

Singh’s comment has come at a time when opposition leaders, including senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, have attacked the Prime Minister and the government that when our army was overshadowing Pakistan, he agreed to the ceasefire. The Indian Air Force Chief also emphasized the importance of ‘ending the war’.

Regarding Pakistan’s Sargodha, the Air Force Chief said, ‘We have grown up in our Air Force dreaming of similar days. Someday we will get a chance. Incidentally, I got this opportunity before my retirement. We attacked the airspace where we got very strong information about F-16 aircraft.

CDS got together, agencies also help

Singh also said that the post of Chief Defense President (CDS) has brought a significant change in military operations. He said, ‘CDS was always present among us to maintain unity and solve problems. Whenever we needed, we used to go to the senior leadership and discuss the issues.

Air Chief Marshal highlighted the role of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in ‘Operation Sindoor’, helping other agencies and security forces together. He said that when the campaign started, the military chiefs discussed in detail the possible results and how India should react.

Hawaii War any country’s first response

Regarding the learning from ‘Operation Sindoor’, Singh said, ‘The biggest learning of this campaign has been that the predominance of air war has come once again. People have realized that the air war is the first reaction of any country and the air war can actually give a quick response, accuracy can attack inside with accuracy and achieve its purpose without unnecessary damage. ‘
