PGTI got a new vision under Kapil Dev, Amitabh Kant became the governing member of Indian golf

Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has taken a big step to give a new flight to professional golf in India. Amitabh Kant, a well-known officer of the country and former CEO of NITI Aayog, has now joined the governing body of PGTI.

Along with this, three big corporate veterans of the world Shantanu Narayan (CEO, Adobe), Nikesh Arora (CEO & Chairman, Palo Alto Networks) and Pradeep S Bakshi (CEO, Transator) have been made advisors.

Big role of Kapil Dev

PGTI President Kapil Dev said on this occasion, ‘It is a big thing for us to join Amitabh Kant. His experience and vision will give a new identity to Indian golf. Now our aim is to become world-class platforms in India and our players shone internationally.

Kapil Dev himself has been busy promoting golf for a long time. After cricket, he made golf his passion and now PGTI is moving fast under his leadership. Amitabh Kant said that he has been playing golf for many years and has seen the talent of Indian players closely. I am happy to join PGTI. He wants to contribute to creating a strong platform for Indian golf with his experience.

India’s professional golfer Ajitesh Sandhu, who has won international titles twice, has also been given a place in the governing body. PGTI has announced 13 big tournaments for the remaining months of this year. These include DP World India Championship, Delhi (16–19 October): Reward 4 million dollars and Tata Open and Jamshedpur (23–28 December): Reward 2 crore.

Cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Pune, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai and Assam will also have tournaments, whose prize money is between Rs 1-2 crore. PGTI will now have the experience of policies (Amitabh Kant), the vision of the corporate world (Narayan, Arora, Bakshi) and Kapil Dev and are all preparing to take Indian golf to new heights.
