Picket for land lease rights in Telangana and controversy entangled in Rasta Roko, police registered a case against 40 farmers

The decades -old land lease dispute of farmers of Narayanpur village of Kasamudram Mandal in Mehboobabad district of Telangana has now become a victim of police action. The police have registered a case against 40 farmers on the road in front of the District Magistrate’s office on Wednesday (September 24, 2025). It is alleged that he interrupted the government work and created a huge traffic jam and harassed the drivers. Farmer leaders are calling it an inappropriate action despite police permission, which has increased tension in the area.

These farmers of Narayanpur village have been struggling for a long time to get a lease on their ancestral agricultural land. Farmers have been cultivating most of the lands of the village for decades, but due to lack of names in the revenue records, government schemes like Rayatu brothers are not getting the benefit. In the year 2018, the problem remains the same even after the merger of Kasamudram Mandal from the Chinese Revenue Village of Narasimhulpet Mandal. The farmers said that they started a peaceful dharna outside the District Collectorate office, but converted it into Rasta Roka (Road Block).

Police gave information about the case

According to the police, due to the dharna, the daily tasks of the employees of the District Magistrate’s Office were obstructed. Long queues of vehicles started on the main road, causing local residents and passengers to be stranded for hours. Mehboobabad District Police registered a case under Section 341 (incorrectly stopping), 188 (disobedience of order of public servant) and 353 (obstruction in government work) of the IPC. SHO Kesamudram said, ‘The farmers had received prior permission, but the dharna started affecting traffic. We warned but they still did not agree.

Farmer leader objected to the case

Farmer leader M. Venkanna, while objecting, said, ‘With the permission of the police, we had launched the road. Asking for lease is not a crime, this is government repression. He cited the memorandum given to the Chief Secretary, saying, ‘The decade -old problem can be solved through the Dharani portal, but the officials are ignoring. Farmers Organization, District Collector Dr. S. Vinay Chandra has demanded immediate intervention.

Farmer leaders warned the district administration

Recently, farmers had stopped the path on the Kasamudram-Thorur main road, which now joined the lease dispute. The district administration has assured talks with the farmers, but tension remains at the local level. Farmer leaders are warning that if the leases are not issued, the movement will intensify.
