PM Modi Himachal -Punjab Visit: Flood landslide ruined Punjab and Himachal, PM Modi will visit both states today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit flood affected Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on Tuesday (September 9, 2025). During this time, he will review the damage and rehabilitation work caused by rain and floods. PM Modi will first reach Kangra in Himachal Pradesh around 1:30 pm, where he will conduct an aerial survey of the most affected areas.

PM Modi will preside over a high level meeting with NDRF, SDRF and Disaster Friends Teams in Dharamshala. Apart from this, they will also talk to the flood victims. After Himachal, the Prime Minister will conduct an aerial survey of the flood affected areas of Punjab. At around 4 pm, PM Modi will reach Gurdaspur, where he will discuss with senior officials and will preside over the review meeting on the ground situation.

PM Modi will hold a meeting with Himachal Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, BJP President JP Nadda and other dignitaries. During this period, the damage in the state to rehabilitation will also be discussed.

In Himachal Pradesh, 370 people have lost their lives in this season so far, out of which 205 deaths have occurred due to landslides, sudden floods, cloud bursting, drowning, lightning and other disasters. A total of 434 people have been injured and 41 people are missing. According to the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, a total of 744 roads were blocked by 6 pm on Monday evening, including NH-03, NH-70 and NH-305.

State governments demanding relief package
Governments of both Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have appealed to PM Modi to give special relief package for flood affected people. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu hoped that PM Modi will release special relief package for disaster affected state.

Punjab Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal said on Monday that he hoped that the Prime Minister would announce a compensation of at least Rs 25,000 crore immediately, besides approved the pending dues of Rs 60,000 crore without delay. Meanwhile, the Punjab cabinet on Monday has decided to give a compensation of Rs 20,000 per acre for crop damage in the state.
