‘Proved, this is Islamabad National Congress’, BJP said if Rahul will not attend Independence Day celebrations

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha for not attending the official Independence Day celebrations held at the Red Fort on Friday (August 15, 2025). The BJP said that the main opposition party has touched a new low level of insulting the country by boycotting this program.

BJP national spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala alleged that with this the Congress proved that it is not the Indian National Congress but Islamabad National Congress or Italian National Congress.

He boycotted the country rather than attending the ceremony- Poonawala

Poonawala said, “Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi boycotted the Independence Day celebrations, which was a national program held at the Red Fort. It was a national festival, no one’s birthday celebrations or a party program. “The BJP spokesperson alleged that he (Kharge and Rahul) boycotted the national function and boycotted the country and insulted the army, constitution, freedom fighters and martyrs.

BJP criticized Congress by posting on X

The BJP said in a post on social media platform X, “From opposing a party to insulting the nation, every time you feel that Congress cannot fall further, they touch a new low level.”

Sharing a media report about Gandhi and Kharge not attending the official Independence Day celebrations, the BJP said, “Only a few chairs were empty during the Independence Day celebrations at the grand Red Fort and it is not difficult to guess who did not attend this program.”

Amit Malviya targeted Rahul Gandhi

Criticizing Rahul Gandhi, Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP IT cell, said that such absence of a person sitting in this post gives a poor message about his commitment to national opportunities.

Sharing a video clip of Gandhi’s involvement at the Independence Day celebrations at the Congress headquarters, he said, “He appeared clearly distracted at the Congress headquarters program. The nation has the right to know this – is he (Rahul) right? And why did he avoid participating in the official ceremony? “At the same time, another BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the Congress of choosing politics instead of the nation.
