Rahul Gandhi claims for Shakun Rani’s ‘double voting’, Election Commission sent notice

The Chief Electoral Rights of Karnataka issued a notice on Sunday (August 10, 2025) on the statement of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that a woman voted twice. The top election official said that these documents of Rahul Gandhi will help in doing a thorough investigation. Rahul Gandhi showed these documents during a conference in New Delhi last week.

In the notice, the Chief Electoral Rights wrote, ‘Rahul Gandhi said that according to the records given by the polling officer, Mrs. Shakun Rani has voted twice, but during the interrogation, Mrs. Shakun Rani said that she has voted only once, not twice.

Keep documents in front of the commission

The notice also said that preliminary investigation conducted by the CEO office has also revealed that the document with tick-marks shown by Rahul Gandhi has not been issued by the polling officer.

The notice wrote the Chief Electoral Rights in the notice, ‘Rahul Gandhi is requested to put the documents he has in front of the Commission, on the basis of which it should be decided that Mrs. Shakun Rani or someone else has voted twice and the commission will be investigated till the bottom.

What did the Election Commission say about the voter list revision?

At the same time, the Election Commission said on Sunday (August 10, 2025) regarding the special intensive revision of voter list in Bihar that since the draft voter list of Bihar has been published on August 1, no political party has contacted to add or remove names in the voter list. According to the commission, claims and objections can be filed on the draft list by September 1, which provides for including the names of eligible citizens or removing unqualified names.
