Ravneet Bittu pushed Muslim MP, TMC charges, demand for action from speaker Om Birla

The Trinamool Congress has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla claiming that on Wednesday (August 20, 2025), Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu pushed Murshidabad party MP Abu Tahir Khan during the introduction of three bills by Home Minister Amit Shah.

A source associated with the party said that in a letter written on August 21, Deputy Leader Shatabdi Roy and MP Mahua Moitra in the Lok Sabha of Trinamool said that the MP of Murshidabad was pushed without any provocation, when he was standing near the posture in the House.

We were using their rights

Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the ‘Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill’, ‘2025’, ‘Union Territory of Government (Amendment) Bill, 2025’ and ‘Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2025’ amid opposition and uproar by the opposition. Later on his proposal, the House decided to send the three Bills to the Joint Committee of Parliament.

There are provisions to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and Ministers from the post for 30 consecutive days of serious criminal charges and for 30 consecutive days. Both the MPs of Trinamool also said that they were using their right to protest during the bill being introduced.

Abu Tahir gave ‘forceful and violent’

On Wednesday, there was a huge uproar in the Lok Sabha when copies of the bills were torn and thrown. In his letter, the Trinamool leaders said that it is his duty as elected representatives to raise the voice of the public. He accused the government of bypassing all parliamentary rules and norms in bringing the Constitution Amendment Bill. He claimed that during the protest, Tahir stood near the seat in the House, when Bittu pushed him ‘forced and violent’.

He said in the letter, ‘During this protest, our honorable colleague Abu Tahir was standing on the banks of the posture. He is a member who has recently passed through a serious disease, for which he had to remain hospitalized for months and this is a fact that is well acquainted with most of our honorable allies, including members of the ruling party.

Request for strict action on minister

He also said that Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju was standing behind Bittu and was encouraging his colleagues to attack opposition MPs. Trinamool MPs said, “This without provocation scared us about our safety until our associate Honorable MP Yusuf Pathan stood between us and aggressive honorable ministers to protect us.” He urged the Speaker to take strict action.
