Safe Driving Tips in Rain: How to do safe driving in heavy rains, know important precautions
These days the monsoon is very loud in India. In many areas of the country – there is heavy rains in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bhopal and Kolkata. While this rain has given relief to the people from the heat, the problems of the drivers have also increased due to the filling of water on the roads. Traffic jams, trains shutdown, engine malfunction and road accidents have increased manifold due to waterlogging.

1. Avoid waterlogging paths
If there is water full on a path, then try to go through an alternative route – if it is a little longer. Water can be moved into the engine when drained from deep water, causing hydrostatic lock and the engine can completely deteriorate. This repair can be very expensive.

2. Know your car’s wading depth
Each vehicle has a limited water ability to drive in a limited water:
– Hatchback and sedan: up to 300 mm
– SUV: up to 500-600 mm

3. Run slow in gear first
If there is a compulsion to go through waterlogging, then keep the car in the first gear and drive slowly. Do not make sudden changes in acceleration or braking. This will keep the vehicle stable and the water will not go into the engine.

If the car stops in the water, do not try to start it again and again. This can cause heavy losses to the engine. It would be better if you call roadside assistance or toing service.
5. Keep AC closed, open the windows lightly
Keeping AC running in the rain leads to more load on the engine. Keep AC off and open the windows a little so that ventilation remains and does not frost on the glass.
6. Fog lamps and Hazard Light on
Visibility decreases in strong rains. In such a situation, keeping the Zajard lights and fog lamps on will be able to know your car and the possibility of conflict will reduce.
7. Don’t forget to dry brakes
After coming out of the water, press the brake lightly and dry them. This will again bring the braking system to normal.
8. Check the tire
The tire should have the right amount of air and the depth of the trade should be sufficient. There is a risk of aquaplanning (slipping of the vehicle) when there is too much or more air.
9. Use the required accessories
These accessories must be in the car to keep the car safe and clean during the rainy season:
– rubber mats
– Waterproof seat cover
– Door Visor
– Car body cover (for open parking)
10. Get the electrical system checked
Battery, wiring and fuses can be affected due to moisture. These problems are seen more in old trains. Continue to serve regularly and also get anti-rest coating.
11. Keep GPS and Emergency apps installed
There is a possibility of wandering during the rainy season. So keep GPS in the phone and keep an emergency app such as roadside assistance app.
