Strict action of NHAI on military assault, toll company’s contract canceled, crores of security also seized
On August 17, a case of assault with Army soldier Kapil Singh came to light at Bhuni toll plaza located on Karnal Highway (NH-709A). Several days after the incident, now the National Highway Authority (NHAI) has taken major action on this.
NHAI canceled the toll recovery agency’s contract and has stopped it from participating in any new bid for a year. The agency has been fined Rs 20 lakh and its Rs 3.66 crore performance security will be seized. This amount will be spent on the damage/repair/change of equipment on the toll plaza.
Give reasons to toll company ‘notice
After the incident, the toll company M/s Dharam Singh was given a ‘show show’ notice, but its reply was not found satisfactory. In the investigation, the agency employees were convicted of misbehaving, quarrels and toll plazas to damage the property.
Providing safe travel primary responsibility
To prevent such incidents further, NHAI has issued strict instructions to all toll companies. These include taking immediate action on employees and training the toll staff good behavior and communication skills. NHAI said that it is its primary responsibility to provide smooth and safe travel to passengers on national highways and indiscipline of toll staff will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
On this incident of assault, Army soldier Kapil Singh said that there is no hesitation in competing with enemies on the border, but such behavior in his own country hurts the mind. The injuries on the body will be cured with time, but the wound on the mind will remain throughout life.
