Jojri River is a seasonal river flowing in Rajasthan. Its total length is about 83 km. This river, which comes out of the hills near Pundalu village in Nagaur district of Rajasthan, is found in the Luni river near Khejdala Khurd in Jodhpur district. This river is severely polluted, due to which the garbage emanating from nearby factories is.
There are a large number of textile industry and tiles of the construction industry factories along the river. The industrial waste coming out of them is being dumped in the river without cleaning. Also, domestic sewage water is also going into the river without treatment. Due to this, toxic chemicals and heavy metals like sulfur, lead and cadmium have been mixed in the water. It is not drinkable for both humans and animals.
The water of the poisonous Jojri River has had a devastating effect on the environment. It has made arable land barren. Local people are having many health problems due to this. Pollution has also affected wildlife.
The state government has been claiming efforts to improve the condition of the river for a long time. He has said to allocate the budget for this. It is also said that efforts are being made to set up sewage treatment plants on the banks of the river, but the Jojri river is still in a bad state.
