A tragic incident occurred on Thursday (September 18, 2025) near Mesamaguda Lake located in Medchal Malkajgiri district of Telangana, where the body of father and his minor daughter found a sensation in the area. On Thursday morning, local residents saw two bodies floating on the banks of the lake and immediately informed the Petabashirabad police station.

Police team and personnel of Hydra (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assistance) reached the spot and took out the bodies after hard work. In the initial investigation, the deceased have been identified as Ashok Kumar (50), resident of Indiramma Colony, Bahadurpalli and Divya, a five -year -old daughter.

Family was struggling with financial stress

Ashok was a lower-level manager in a private company, while Divya was a kind of kindergarten student. According to family members, the two left the house on Wednesday (September 17, 2025) and were missing overnight. Neighbors said that Ashok was struggling with family and economic stress for the last few months.

Ram Reddy, a local resident, said, ‘Ashok often looked worried. Last night, he went out for a walk with his daughter, but we are shocked to hear this news in the morning. Police has sent the dead bodies to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem. The initial report confirmed the death due to drowning, but the circumstances remain suspicious. Was it an accident, suicide or any criminal conspiracy? It still remains a question.

The wife of the deceased pleads for justice

Petabashirabad Inspector Rajesh Kumar said, ‘The team reached the spot as soon as we received the information. No suspicious items were found around the dead bodies, but we are all investigating from the angle. The family is being questioned and CCTV footage is being investigated. If a foul play is found, strict action will be taken. To prevent such incidents, we will conduct awareness campaigns, especially around the lakes. The family is getting full support.

Ashok’s wife and Divya’s mother Sita said crying, ‘My whole family was shattered. Ashok never thinks so, please give justice. The police has intensified the investigation by registering an FIR in the case. The local administration has increased security around the lake.
