‘The central government should meet immediately, otherwise …’, Leh Apex Body demanded to give Ladakh state status
Leh Apex Body said on Monday (September 22, 2025) that the state status and Ladakh will not end the hunger strike until its demand to include Ladakh in the sixth schedule. Apex Body demanded an immediate meeting with the central government and warned that the patience of the public is responding.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a conversation with the Ladakh delegation on October 6 to discuss the next round. Charing Dorje, co-president of Leh Apex Body, told the communicators through online medium that they have informed the government that they would not end their hunger strike until a compromise is reached. He said, ‘Our opposition is peaceful, but people are losing patience. The situation can come out of our hands. The conversation has already been postponed.
Promise should be fulfilled before the mountain council elections- Wangchuk
Climate activist and teacher Sonam Wangchuk said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had promised to include Ladakh in the sixth schedule of the Constitution. He emphasized that this promise should be fulfilled before the upcoming mountain council elections.
Wangchuk said, ‘If they (government) fulfill their promise, Ladakh will vote and make them victorious. He will benefit the most and Ladakh too. So we hope that they will hold a meaningful conversation.
People are losing their patience due to delay in conversation
He also said, ‘People are losing patience due to the delay in the conversation. We hope that all issues will be resolved peacefully. Our opposition is peaceful, but people are now getting tired. They say that we are not getting anything from peaceful opposition. We do not want anything that India have to raise embarrassment. It would be better to maintain peace. He said, ‘Our demands are pending for the last five years. Even the Constitution of India was formed in two years.
