Air Chief Marshal AP Singh expressed disappointment on the evidence related to the 2019 Balakot air strike on Saturday (August 09, 2025), due to which the doubt among opposition leaders increased. He said that in 2019, the armed forces had intelligence about the killing of several terrorists across the border over the Balakot strike in 2019, but this time the video and photos of Operation Sindoor were successful in ending that ‘ghost’ of Balakot and could tell the world what was achieved.

Addressing a gathering at the Management Academy, Air Chief Marshal Singh said that we could not achieve anything from inside in Balakot and unfortunately it became a big problem to tell our own people about what we could achieve? We killed many terrorists, but we could not convince our own people what we have done?

Prayed to deal with Balakot’s ‘ghost’

He said that even during Operation Sindoor, a similar problem could have arisen due to lack of video evidence. We were lucky that we got these videos publicly. I am very happy that this time we managed to deal with that ‘ghost’ of Balakot and we were able to tell the world what we have achieved.

Air Chief Marshal said, “Many opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi sought evidence on Balakot airstrikes, which were carried out in response to the Pulwama terror attack, in which at least 40 CRPF personnel were martyred.” He said that the sole purpose of Operation Sindoor was to teach the terrorists a lesson and once the objective was fulfilled, India started searching for opportunities to ‘stop the struggle’.

Air Chief Marshal said about Rahul Gandhi’s 2019 statements that I read in newspapers that the families of CRPF jawans have raised this demand. This is his feeling and Congress leaders have also spoken on this and it has happened. I do not want to go to this issue. It is the feeling of the families of the soldiers that we have been hurt and we should be shown what we have hurt and we should also be shown what has been done on this.
