Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal on Friday (August 22, 2025). Addressing the public meeting here, PM Modi targeted Trinamool Congress (TMC) and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. PM Modi said in his address that in the last 11 years, the BJP government at the Center has given all kinds of help for the development of West Bengal. Our Government of India has given more than 3 times the money to Bengal for the construction of the National Highway in Bengal by the UPA coalition government in its 10 years.

PM Modi said, “The budget of Bengal for Railways has also been increased three times as compared to earlier. But, there is a big challenge before the development works in Bengal. The challenge is that most of the money we send to the state government for Bengal is looted here. That money is spent on TMC cadre. Therefore, in many schemes of poor welfare, Bengal is lagged from other states of the country.

PM Modi reached Kolkata before Durga Puja

PM Modi said, “I have come to Kolkata at a time when the preparations for Durga Puja have started here. Kolkata is decorating with a new color, new glory. When the festival of development is also associated with the festival of faith and joy, happiness doubles. I have got the opportunity to lay the foundation of the big projects related to Kolkata Metro and Highway.”

He said, “West Bengal is one of the largest states in the country in terms of population. So until the strength of West Bengal increases, the journey of developed India will not be successful. Because BJP believes, BJP’s reverence is- ‘When Bengal rises, only then will the developed India become.’ In order to benefit all the schemes in Bengal too, it is necessary that the BJP government should also go here, the BJP will come. ”

BJP has a plan for the development of Bengal- PM

PM Modi said, “BJP has a concrete plan for the development of West Bengal, a roadmap, but TMC is an enemy of development. Its witness is also Dum Dum Kshetra, it is one of the most crowded areas of Kolkata. Smart City Mission is going on for the development of such urban areas of the country. But the TMC government also refused to join this mission. The mission of the BJP is to stop the BJP’s plans.
