The Prime Minister of Mauritius will come on a tour of India, the first bilateral visit will talk on many issues

Mauritius Prime Minister Naveen Chandra Ramgulam will come on a state visit to India from 9 to 16 September. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) gave this information on Friday (05 September 2025). This will be India’s first bilateral foreign trip during his current tenure.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal told in a weekly press conference that Prime Minister Ramgulam had earlier come to India to attend the swearing -in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Council of Ministers in 2014.

Mauritius and India’s deep association

He said, ‘Prime Minister Dr. Naveen Chandra Ramgulam will be on a state visit to India from 9 to 16 September. During this time, he will also go to Mumbai, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Tirupati besides Delhi. He will take part in a commercial program in Mumbai.

Last month, Prime Minister Ramgulam greeted Prime Minister Modi and the Indian public on India’s Independence Day. He had said that the relationship between Mauritius and India lies deeply in history and culture.

PM Modi reached the 57th National Day celebrations of Mauritius

Prime Minister Modi also thanked his Mauritius counterpart and described Mauritius as a ‘strategic and reliable partner’ of India. Earlier, at the beginning of the year, Prime Minister Modi went to Mauritius on a two -day state visit, where he attended the 57th National Day celebrations of Mauritius.

During the visit to Mauritius, PM Modi met Prime Minister Ramgulam and President Dharam Gokhul. The relations between India and Mauritius are based on shared history, demographics and culture. Since the early years of independent India between the two countries, deep and reliable relations have been maintained.
