The Congress said on Sunday (September 7, 2025) on the third anniversary of the India Joko Yatra that it is a transformative milestone in the country’s politics and its echo is still today. Congress general secretary and communication in -charge Jairam Ramesh said that the Bharat Jito Yatra started three years ago on this day from Swami Vivekananda Shila Memorial in Kanyakumari.

Ramesh said, “The yatra was carried out to highlight three burning and worrying public issues- rising economic inequality, deepening social polarization and growing political totalitarianism.”

India had passed through 12 states and two union territories

The Congress General Secretary said, ‘This was a 4,000 km padyatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and the visit was done by Rahul Gandhi and more than 200 India travelers. The yatra passed through 12 states and two union territories and lasted for more than 145 days. This journey was a transformative milestone in the politics of our country. Its echo and resonance continues even today.

Ramesh said, ‘During the yatra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi addressed 12 public meetings, more than 100 street meetings and 13 press conferences. He had more than 275 dialogues while walking. With his journey of over 4,000 kilometers, Rahul Gandhi managed to draw attention to his supporters as well as opponents.

Who were involved in Congress’s India Jigar Yatra,

Every section of the society took part in this journey, including Kamal Haasan, Pooja Bhatt, Riya Sen, Swara Bhaskar, Rashmi Desai, Akanksha Puri and Amol Palekar from film and celebrities from the TV world. In addition, former Army Chief General (retired) Deepak Kapoor and former Navy Chief Admiral (retired) L.K. Writer and military veteran, including Ramdas and former Governor of Reserve Bank of India Raghuram Rajan and former Finance Secretary Arvind Mayaram also participated in the yatra.

At the same time, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah of the National Conference, Mehbooba Mufti of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, Priyanka Chaturvedi and Sanjay Raut and Sanjay Raut and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule like Supriya Sule also joined Gandhi during the journey.
