He said that after the US imposed 50 percent of India on behalf, the US is in a state of ‘look and wait’ to the US, that is, they are not taking any big step immediately, but want to see how the situation changes further, so that the decision can be taken accordingly.

America used to export 30 percent

After signing the free trade agreement between India and Britain, this company of Tiruppur is now putting good expectations from the UK market for its business. Tiruppur is also called the ‘Nitwear Hub’ of the country. Industry representatives stated that the textile exports to the US market are about Rs 12,000 crore annually, which is about 30 percent of the total export of Rs 45,000 crore from Tiruppur and surrounding areas.

Tiruppur Exports Association (TEA) President K.M. Subramanian told ‘PTI-language’, ‘The total exports from Tiruppur region are about Rs 45,000 crore, of which 30 percent (Rs 12,000 crore) is in the US market. We hope that 50 percent business, ie about 6,000 crore rupees will be affected.

Production banned

TEA members said that as immediate measures, some costumes exporting the US market have stopped production in their factories. Some are still considering other options to deal with the situation. Subramanian said, ‘At present, he (manufacturers exporting to the US) have stopped production. This will have a serious impact on business. We will wait for the next two weeks and then adopt further strategy.
