Unlawful benefit to Ambani Group from Yes Bank Fund, CBI investigation revealed, accused of manipulation of 2796 crore
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed two charge sheet in a special court in Mumbai on 18 September 2025. The case is related to the fraud transaction between Anil Ambani Group companies (RCFL and RHFL) and Yes Bank.
Investigation revealed that Rana Kapoor, the then managing director and CEO of Yes Bank, misused his post and put public funds of thousands of crores in the Ambani Group companies, which is struggling with the financial crisis and in return, he made deals to benefit his family.
This was revealed in CBI investigation
The CBI investigation revealed that in 2017, Yes Bank invested Rs 2045 crore in RCFL on Rana Kapoor’s approval and Rs 2965 crore in RHFL in non-convertible debentures and commercial papers, while at that time the companies of ADA Group were kept in the monitoring list. Later this amount was diverted to other companies through complex transactions.
It is alleged that the amount of Yes Bank was used to support the weak companies of Ambani Group under a conspiracy between Anil Ambani and Rana Kapoor. In return, RCFL and RHFL provided loans and investment facilities to companies of Rana Kapoor’s wife Bindu Kapoor and daughters Radha and Roshni Kapoor at concessional rates.
Case registered under IPC sections
Due to this illegal system, Yes Bank suffered a loss of about Rs 2796.77 crore and benefited the companies of Ambani Group and Kapoor family. Investigation also revealed that Reliance Nippon Mutual Fund, which is another subsidiary of Reliance Capital, invested Rs 1160 crore in Morgan Credits Private Limited (Kapoor family’s company) in 2017-18 on the instructions of Anil Ambani.
Apart from this, Rs 1750 crore was invested in the AT-1 bonds of Yes Bank, which are considered to be high risk and unsafe investment. CBI has given Rana Kapoor, Anil Ambani, Bindu Kapoor, Radha Kapoor, Roshni Kapoor, RCFL, RHFL (now Athum Investment and Infrastructure Limited), Morgan Credits Pvt. Ltd. And other shell companies of the Kapoor family have filed a charge sheet by registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC sections.
