The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), taking major action in Varanasi, has busted an inter -state gang smuggling illegal weapons. STF arrested three smugglers and recovered 10 pistols, 15 magazines, three mobile phones and cash from them. The accused arrested include people from Ghazipur and Bihar.
The arrested smugglers include Prashant Rai alias Jeetu of Ghazipur district, Rahul Thakur of Bihar Buxar and Mukund Pradhan of Ghazipur. All of them were arrested from under the Faridpur Ring Road underpass in Sarnath police station area of ​​Varanasi.
UP STF took major action
The STF was receiving information for a long time that the network of illegal weapons is active in Purvanchal. After this, the team gathered intelligence information and caught the smugglers by laying a net.
The criminal history of Prashant Rai has also come to light. It is being told that he is a domineering type of criminal, who used to fight and go to Gundai earlier. Meanwhile, he was in touch with Ashala smuggler Subhash Pasi of Ghazipur. After this, he bought a 32 bore pistol and gradually started smuggling on a large scale.
Later, he had a connection with the notorious arms smuggler Vishnu Sardar, resident of Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. From Vishnu, he used to buy pistols for 20-25 thousand rupees and sold in Ghazipur, Bihar and surrounding districts for 40-50 thousand rupees.
According to sources, Prashant Rai used to ask for weapons through his colleagues Rahul Thakur and Mukund Pradhan and used to give them 4-5 thousand rupees on every consignment. So far, he has supplied this kind of many times.
Smuggling in the border areas of UP-Bihar
There have been reports of smuggling of illegal weapons in the border districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for a long time. Munger in Bihar and Khandwa of Madhya Pradesh have been considered notorious for long -term weapons manufacturing and supply. At the same time, consumption of such weapons is said to be more in Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Varanasi and some areas of Prayagraj in UP.
The STF said that further action is being taken against the three accused arrested by filing a case under the Arms Act and BNS sections at Sarnath police station. Police say that this action is a big success against the illegal weapon smuggling network active in Purvanchal and further action will continue on such gangs.
