When will the 8th pay commission be implemented government grave the answer in parliament
As a major achievement for government employees, the government has sought suggestions from key stakeholders for the formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission. Parliament was informed that the government has sought suggestions from all stakeholders including Defense and Home Ministry, Department of Personnel and Training and States. Six months later, in response to a question related to non -formation of the commission by the government, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that suggestions have been sought from all the major stakeholders including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Personnel and Training Department and States.

Earlier this year, in January, the government approved the formation of the 8th Pay Commission for the aim of amending the salary of about 50 lakh central employees. The revised system will also ensure the benefit of allowance for about 65 lakh pensioners. In a written reply in the lower house on Monday, Chaudhary said that the Chairman and members of the 8th Pay Commission will be appointed after the government notification of the 8th Central Pay Commission.

Asked about the required time limit for the implementation of the revised pay scales, Chaudhary replied, “Implementation will be started only after recommendations by the Eighth Pay Commission and accepted by the government.” Typically, the central government forms a pay commission every 10 years to review and amend the salaries of government employees. In this regard, the Seventh Pay Commission was established in February 2014, while its recommendations came into effect from January 1, 2016. The Eighth Pay Commission is to be implemented from January 1, 2026.
