‘Whether Trump impose any tariff …’, 50% tariff of America came into force to India, then former CEO of NITI Commission, Abdamat Kant said a big thing
Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant said on Wednesday (August 27, 2025) that India should see the tariff imposed by the US as a warning. He said that it should be used as an opportunity to implement adventure and one generation of reforms and diversify its export markets for long -term development.
Addressing the BN Memorial Lecturela organized by the IRS (C& IT) Association, Amitabh Kant said, “This is the era of India, whether Trump puts any tariff, I strongly believe that Trump has given us a huge opportunity for reforms.”
What did the former CEO of NITI Aayog say on Trump’s tariff,
When the US has given the reason for the tariff increase for Russian oil imports, Kant said, ‘This is not about Russian oil. If this issue was there, China buys more oil than Russia and Türkiye also buys as much oil.
He said in a post on social media platform X, ‘Trump’s fee should be a warning bell for India. It is ironic that the US is actively interacting with Russia and China, while China is the largest oil buyer in Russia and is still targeting India for fees. Clearly stated, it is not about Russian oil. Instead of being afraid of these global shocks, India should take them as an inspiration to implement adventure, once a generation reforms and at the same time ensure long -term development and strength by bringing diversity in our export markets. ‘
Till 2047 India’s fulfilled country is not a distant dream- Amitabh Kant
