Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) criticized the new Bills and described them as ‘repressive and undemocratic’. There is a provision to remove the Prime Minister or Chief Ministers arrested in serious criminal charges among these bills.

Priyanka Gandhi criticized the central government and said that by bringing such a bill, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is trying to throw dust in the eyes of the people. He told reporters in the Parliament complex, ‘This is a completely oppressive step. It is against everything and presenting it as an anti -corruption step is like throwing dust in people’s eyes. Since it is basically allowed the government to do so, then you do not even need to be convicted.

Bill against anti -democracy and constitution: Priyanka

The Congress General Secretary said, “Tomorrow you can register a case against a Chief Minister and arrest him for 30 days without conviction and then he will no longer be the Chief Minister.” Priyanka Gandhi said that this is in front of everyone. I think it’s absolutely wrong. It is anti -democracy and against the constitution, it is undemocratic and it is very unfortunate.

Legal conspiracy to destabilize opposition

The Congress had alleged on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) that the BJP -led central government intends to bring a law to destroy the opposition by immediately removing them from the post after arbitrarily arrest the Chief Ministers of the opposition parties in various states. Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said that the central government wants to bring such a law to remove the Chief Ministers of opposition parties after failing to beat the election.
