The Supreme Court on a petition against the complete ban on firecrackers in Delhi-NCRCaqm) Have sought answers from Cracker traders have filed a petition requesting the concession from the court. The next hearing of the case will be held on 22 September. During the hearing, the court also questioned the issuance of firecrackers’ order for Delhi.

The order to stop the sale and storage of firecrackers in Delhi and its cities was issued by the state governments only due to the strict stance of the Supreme Court. Now institutions named Firework Traders Association, Indic Collective and Haryana Firework Manufacturers have challenged it. He says that many cracker traders had a valid license up to 2027-28. On this, the court wanted to know if these standards have been set? Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, appearing for the Central Government, said that the National Investigation Research Institute (Neeri) Has done some research on this. She will put her in front of the court in the next hearing.

During the hearing, the bench of Chief Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai and Vinod Chandran of Justice questioned why the order related to firecrackers is limited to Delhi-NCR only. The judges said that whatever policy is, it should be implemented for the whole country. Other cities also have the right to clean air. The court cannot make a policy for Delhi just because the country’s elite class (aristocratic) remains here.

Senior advocate Aparajita Singh, who is assisting the court as amicus cururi in the case, said that rich people go out in pollution months or use air filters. The poor section of pollution suffers more. On this, the Chief Justice said that it is not right for Delhi to have a policy only. He went to Amritsar in winter last year. The pollution situation there was worse than Delhi.
