Will there be a conversation on trade deal with India? Trump gave this answer amid tariff controversy
US President Donald Trump has made it clear that there will be no talks on the trade deal with India before the tariff dispute is over. Trump has given this statement on the question of ANI in the Oval office. US President Trump has reduced the total tariff on Indian goods, including an additional 25 percent tariff on Indian goods, 50 percent. Trump says that India is constantly buying oil from Russia, due to which a penalty has been imposed on it.
The first tariff was implemented on 7 August
Trump had earlier announced a 25 percent tariff on India, which will be applicable from August 7, while the additional tariff will be applicable from August 27. Out of these, the products which were already exempted will not be targeted. The US President had announced this, saying that India had called to buy oil from Russia to fuel the war machine.
What is the reaction of India on Trump’s tariff?
In response to the US tariff, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement saying, ‘In recent times the US has targeted India’s oil imports from Russia. We have already clarified our stance on these issues. Our import is based on the situation in the market, its objective is to ensure the energy security of 140 million population of India.
India criticized the US decision and said that the US has decided to impose additional tariffs on India, while many other countries are also doing the same work in their national interest. We once again repeat that this action is inappropriate, unprovoked and irrational. India will take all necessary steps to protect its national interests.
PM Modi also gave a statement on tariff
PM Narendra Modi held M.S. in New Delhi Swaminathan said at the Shatabdi International Conference that India will never compromise on the interests of farmers, fishermen and dairy farmers. He said, “I know that we may have to pay a heavy price for this, but I am ready for it. India is ready.” India has been opposing opening sensitive areas like agriculture and dairy for international competition for a long time, as it could affect millions of rural livelihoods.

America will harm itself due to tariff: SBI report
According to a research report by State Bank of India (SBI), the 50% tariff proposed by the US on Indian goods will damage its own interests and will be heavy on American consumers. India fulfills 35% of American generic drugs in the pharma sector. According to the report, it will take 3-5 years to change drug production or API supply from here. Per capita health expenses in the US are around $ 15,000 annually. SBI says that applying tariffs on Indian generic will make medicines expensive, which will increase both medicines and medical aid and personal expenses, which will make 17.6% of the US GDP health expenses more heavy.
