On Wednesday (August 27, 2025) at the Cuttack railway station in Odisha, there was chaos when a part of the roof under construction of the platform suddenly fell here. It was above the roof platform number 1 and 2 under construction. After the accident, the train service on platform number 1 and 2 was temporarily stopped.
A minor injury to a person in the accident
Railway officials said that a man has been injured in the incident and the operation of trains has been temporarily affected. An Eastern Coastal Railway official said that the roof of a shade collapsed on the tracks due to falling wall on platform number one.
ECOR said in a statement, ‘During redevelopment works at Cuttack railway station, some construction work was being done with adequate security precautions. Unfortunately at 3.45 pm, an old wall fell on the platform, temporarily disrupted the movement of trains on platform one and two.
Accident occurred after the passing of Vande Bharat Express train
According to a person present on the occasion, the incident occurred soon after passing through the Vande Bharat train platform. In addition to the Khurda Road Division, Divisional Railway Manager (Operations) Pradeep Kumar Behera said, “A person suffered a minor injury in the incident and has been admitted to the hospital.” Behera said, ‘The structure that has collapsed was very old. Redevelopment was done, so no common man was allowed to go to that part.
He said that the repair work is being done in full swing and the rail service will be restored soon. Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Cuttack K.K. Rishikesh Gyan Dev said, ‘GRP, fire service, RPF and a medical team reached the spot soon after the incident. Now repair work is being done.
