The Supreme Court has given an important order in the case of disturbances in sub -inspector recruitment in Rajasthan. The Supreme Court has asked the High Court to maintain the status quo before the single judge’s order. That is, at present, the job of people who became sub-inspector in 2021 are safe. The Supreme Court has asked the Division Bench of the High Court to try to settle the case in 3 months.
What were the allegations?
The matter is related to the sub-inspector recruitment examination conducted by Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) in 2021. This process related to the recruitment of 859 posts was accused of disturbances, paper leaks and collusion of RPSC members. During the investigation, it was revealed that many candidates had already received the question paper. RPSC members also got their relatives and close jobs.
The Special Operation Group (SOG) arrested 122 people including 55 trainee sub -inspectors and 2 former members of RPSC – Babulal Katara and Ramu Ram Raika. In the 2023 assembly elections, disturbances in sub-inspector recruitment became a big issue. The matter went to Rajasthan High Court.
The hearing lasted about 10 months
The hearing on the petition of many unsuccessful candidates including Kailash Chand Sharma in the single bench of Rajasthan High Court lasted about 10 months. In the order given on August 28, the entire process of single bench was described as suspicious. The court canceled all the 859 recruitments and asked the state government to conduct a fresh examination.
Court’s stand against order
Around 170 selected candidates including Amar Singh reached the Division Bench of the High Court against this order. He argued that only about 55 people are tainted. Some people should not be punished for the mistake. On September 8, the double bench of the High Court stayed this order of the single bench.
In the Supreme Court, the case came in the bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and Manmohan. The judges, after hearing both the parties for a while, said that they would order in the presence of the Rajasthan government lawyer at 2 pm. In the presence of all the lawyers at 2 o’clock, the Supreme Court said that it is ordering to restore the situation before the order of the single bench of the High Court.
