ECI on Delhi Sir: After Bihar, now Delhi’s number, Election Commission will start SIR soon, know what CEO said

After Bihar, now the Election Commission (ECI) has started preparations for special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists in Delhi. It is also part of the constitutional obligation of the Commission to ensure the purity of voter lists. The exact dates of the SIR process will be announced later.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office of Delhi has said that people whose name is not in the 2002 voter list, will have to show the identity card while submitting the calculation form. The statement said, “The general public is informed that the Commission has decided to start a special intensive revision (SIR) across the country to discharge its constitutional obligation to protect the integrity of the voter list. A special revision campaign will be carried out in the national capital under this comprehensive process.”

Last month, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had said about the SIR time limit in West Bengal that it will be announced soon across the country.

2002 voter list uploaded online
In a post on social media, the CEO of Delhi also uploaded the 2002 voter list online and connected the current assembly constituencies with the 2002 constituencies, so that voters could help to find out whether their (or their parents) name is in that old list.

What did CEO say
In an official statement issued by the CEO office, “All concerned officials, district election officials, electoral registration officers, assistant electoral registration officers and booth-level officers (BLOs) have been trained.” During the SIR, BLOs have been appointed in each assembly constituency for house-to-door tour. Voters are being asked to verify the names of themselves and their parents in the 2002 voter list. According to the statement, “Those whose names are in the voter lists of 2002 and 2025, they will only have to submit a fraction of the calculation form and the voter list of 2002.”
