On Thursday, Hockey India announced a 20 -member squad of the Indian women’s hockey team for the Women’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025. The tournament will take place in Hangzhou, China between September 5 and September 14. At the same time, the team will be commanded by Salima Tete’s shoulders. This tournament is very important because whichever team will be the winner will make a direct place in the 2026 FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup.
In the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 hockey, the Indian team will start their campaign against Thailand on 5 September and then will take on Japan on 6 September. India will play its final pool match against Singapore on September 8. India is placed in Pool B.
Salima Tete has been a strong link of the team since becoming captain last year. Mukhy coach Harendra Singh issued a press release saying that the team has a great balance of experience and youth. He told that, our goal is to play aggressive and disciplined hockey. This team is capable of giving a tough competition to the top teams of Asia. Salima will further strengthen Midfield under the leadership, which includes players like Neha, Lalremasiami, Sharmila Devi, Sunelita Toppo and Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke.
