Bihar’s economy has achieved new height in the financial year 2024-25. Deputy Chief Minister and Co -Finance Minister Samrat Chaudhary said that the growth rate of the state was 8.64 percent, while gross state domestic product (GSDP) has increased from Rs 4.89 lakh crore to Rs 5.31 lakh crore. He claimed that in the coming years, GSDP of Bihar can reach Rs 10 lakh crore.
Emperor Chaudhary said that Bihar is no longer dependent on agriculture. Industrial and service sectors in the state have taken fast steps. There has been 11 percent increase in construction and production sector, 8.9 percent in service sector and 13 percent in transport and communication sector. He said that due to financial discipline, the fiscal deficit of the state has also come under control. Earlier it was 6.2 percent, which has come down to 2.9 percent now.
Thousands of youth get employment opportunities from new industries
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Samrat Chaudhary informed that investment proposals of Rs 2.3 lakh crore have been received from recently organized investment conferences. Thousands of youth have got employment opportunities from new industries set up under IT and Ethanol policy. Also, the government has announced ‘Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Package-2025’. Under this package, if an entrepreneur invests more than Rs 100 crore and creates more than 1,000 direct employment, then land will be provided free of cost up to 10 acres.
Women will get assistance amount to start self -employment
‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Employment Scheme’ has also been launched to make women financially empowered. Under this, a woman of each family will be given initial assistance of Rs 10,000 to start self -employment. If there is progress in business after six months, then additional assistance of up to two lakh rupees will also be provided. Chaudhary said that this scheme is not limited to the assistance amount, but is a strong step in the direction of self -reliant Bihar.
16 products in agriculture got GI tag
Bihar has already made its mark in the agriculture sector. The state ranks first in the country in Mecca, Makhana, litchi, lady finger and mushroom production. So far 16 products have received GI tags, including royal litchi, Bhagalpuri silk and Mithila Makhana. This has not only increased the income of farmers, but the identity of Bihar has also strengthened globally.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government aims to make Bihar self -reliant and prosperous by 2047. The steps taken towards investment, industrial development and employment generation will prove to be decisive for achieving this goal.
