In Igatpuri, Nashik, Maharashtra, the CBI has busted an illegal call center running at a resort. This call center used to do cyber fraud with people by pretending to Amazon Support Services. The CBI has registered a case against 6 accused in this case, out of which 5 have been arrested. 1.2 crore cash, 44 laptops and 71 phones have been recovered from them.
How did this call center racket go?
Investigation has revealed that the accused people used to call citizens of America, Canada and other countries and cheat them. These call centers used to earn crime through gift cards and cryptocurrency. About 60 operators were working here, including dilers, verifiers and closters who carried out this fraud.
During the search, CBI has found 44 laptops, 71 mobile phones and several digital evidence. Apart from this, cash of about Rs 1.20 crore, 500 grams of gold and 7 luxury cars have been seized. Also, 5000 USDT Cryptocurrency (about 5 lakh rupees) and 2000 Canadian dollar gift vouchers (about 1.26 lakh rupees) have also been found.
CBI had also busted a gang earlier
Earlier in July, the CBI busted an international cyber crime gang under Operation Chakra-5. This gang used to target the people of UK and Australia and run technical support scams. In that case, three locations of Noida were raided.
The CBI investigation revealed that the gang members used to cheat people by becoming technical support staff of Microsoft and other big companies. He used to claim that his computer or mobile had a technical problem and used to charge huge amount in the name of solution.

The CBI searched the gang with FBI, Britain’s National Crime Agency and Microsoft Corporation. Several technical equipment and fraud -related documents were found in the search.
