Management of Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan is now in the hands of former judge of High Court, Supreme Court formed a committee

The Supreme Court has formed a committee to manage the Banke Bihari temple of Vrindavan. Former judge of Allahabad High Court Justice Ashok Kumar will be its president. Former District Judge Mukesh Mishra will be a member of the Committee. Apart from this, 4 Goswami will also be members along with the current district judge, DM, SSP and other officials of Mathura. These Goswami will be from 2 groups who are claiming legal claims. Apart from these, no one else is allowed to interfere in the management of the temple.

The bench of Supreme Court Justices Surya Kant and Joyamalya Bagchi have changed the order from another bench on 15 May. The court has removed the part of the previous order, in which the state government was allowed to use the temple fund for the construction of the corridor around the temple.

Ban on implementation of ordinance

The Supreme Court has banned the implementation of the state government’s ordinance related to the management of the temple. The concerned parties have asked to challenge it in Allahabad High Court. The Division Bench of the High Court should hear it. However, the Supreme Court has made it clear that the ban on the ordinance does not mean that the state government cannot take approval on it by presenting it in the assembly.

Inconvenience even after offering crores of rupees

The court has expressed concern that despite the arrival of crores of rupees in the temple, fundamental facilities are not being developed for the devotees. Goswami is divided into sevayat groups. A court dispute between them continues. Due to this, the administration of the temple is lying inactive.

The court has asked the High Powered Committee constituted on its behalf to focus on the development of facilities for the devotees. The court has also said that the committee should talk to buy land for the development of facilities.
