Activist Manoj Jarange on Sunday (31 August) demanded the issuance of government order (GR) on Maratha reservation (GR) on the basis of the records available from the Devendra Fadnavis government of Maharashtra. Addressing the press conference at Azad Maidan, Jarang said that we will not withdraw from the dharna site until the demands are met, even if the Fadnavis government fired bullets at us.
Manoj Jarange has been fasting fast at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai since Friday (August 29). He once again claimed that Maratha is a sub -caste of Kunbi. Kunbi is an agrarian -oriented caste, which gets the benefit of reservation under the Other Backward Classes category.
‘Government’s strategy to waste time on Maratha reservation’
Jarang claimed, “58 lakh records have been found, which call the Marathas a kunbi.” Those who want reservation will take it. If there is a legal issue, do not normalize the Marathas as a clan. ”He alleged that the Maharashtra government is adopting a strategy to waste time on the Maratha reservation issue. Jaranga, while targeting Fadnavis, compared him to ‘Chameleon’.
If you do not get reservation, you will not be able to win a single seat- Jarna
He said that Fadnavis had announced that after becoming the Chief Minister, his first decision would have to be given reservation to the Dhangar community. The reservation worker questioned, “Did they do so?” He had said that agricultural loans will be waived. Did they do this? If you do not give us reservation, then you will not be able to win a single seat of Gram Panchayat. ”
Criticism of Mahayuti Sarkar
Criticizing the ‘Mahayuti’ government of Maharashtra -led Maharashtra, Jarang claimed that the police are not allowing people (supporting their agitation) to enter Mumbai. He warned, “They (who are allegedly being stopped) will return, but will ensure that your MPs and MLAs have to leave Maharashtra with their families.”
‘Vijay procession will be taken out or my funeral journey’
Jarang said, “No one can stop the Marathas from getting reservation under the OBC quota.” He warned that either a victory procession will be taken out or their body journey. Jarange requested thousands of supporters from different parts of Maharashtra to maintain peace and not join hooliganism.
When NCP MP Supriya Sule came to meet Jarang in the afternoon, he was surrounded by reservation supporters and journalists were mocked. Referring to this, Jarage said that all the people coming to the protest site should be treated respectfully. He also asked the media persons to consider the fact that the protesters come from poor families in rural areas of the state.
