‘No support if not urea’, BRS leader’s direct warning to Congress and BJP regarding Vice Presidential election

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Executive Chairman K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on the Congress and BJP over the Vice Presidential elections and the lack of urea in Telangana. KTR clarified that BRS would only support the same party that would ensure the supply of 2 lakh metric tonnes of urea for Telangana before 9 September.

He said, ‘No coalition has contacted us yet. Our decision will only be in the interest of the farmers of Telangana. If the Congress nominations a candidate for the Chief Minister, then we will oppose without any hesitation.

BC leader contenders for the post of Vice President

KTR accused the Congress of hypocrisy on the issue of social justice. He said that the Congress claims love for the backward class (BC), but did not nominate any BC leader for the post of Vice President. He taunted and said that if he was serious, then he could have fielded an intellectual or a prominent BC leader like Kancha Ilaiah.

KTR termed the lack of urea as’ artificial shortage made by Congress’ misrule ‘and demanded immediate corrective steps. He alleged that Congress leaders are selling fertilizer stock in black marketing, due to which millions of farmers are forced to stand in queues for hours.

Police filed a case for asking for fertilizer

He said that for the first time in the history of Telangana, women farmers are spending the night outside the depot. Farmers are leaving shoes and Aadhaar cards in queues to save their place. In some cases, police cases are also being registered for seeking fertilizer. Such a derogatory situation was never seen under the 10 -year rule of KCR.

KTR has demanded that the state government issue a white paper, which consists of the quantity of fertilizer received from the center, stock in warehouses, distribution to farmers and missing or diverted. He also demanded extensive investigation from the Center and strict action against the culprits.

Rahul Gandhi remained silent in Parliament on urea crisis

KTR accused both Congress and BJP of cheating Telangana and said that despite 8 Congress MPs and 8 BJP MPs, Telangana did not get anything. 8+8 means only zero profit. He accused Rahul Gandhi of keeping silent in Parliament on the urea crisis despite the promises of ‘Rayathu Declaration’. KTR said, ‘Rahul did not say a word on the suffering of the farmers of Telangana. This reflects his double character.

He accused the Revanth Reddy government of failing on every front like debt waiver, Rayathu Bandhu, free electricity, procurement, bonus, crop insurance and now fertilizer. Taking a dig at, he said, ‘More than 600 farmers have committed suicide under this rule. Revanth went to Delhi 51 times, but could not bring 51 bags of urea for Telangana.

Fight against injustice and misrule

KTR condemned slogans like ‘Marwari back’ and said that BRS respects all communities. Everyone is welcome in Telangana. Our fight is only against injustice and misrule. KTR reiterated that BRS is not affiliated to the NDA or India alliance. He said that we are an independent party. There is no boss in Delhi, the people of Telangana are our boss.

He warned that if the crisis continues, BRS will start widespread agitation from village to state level. KTR said, ‘Farmers should not be disappointed. BRS will fight until this crisis is resolved. We will not let the Congress government ruin the agricultural progress of Telangana.
