Now every soldier’s eye will be like ‘eagle’, a big announcement of army chief, drone will become a new weapon

The Indian Army is rapidly incorporating drones and anti-drone systems. Many units have already been operational and drone centers have been set up in major training academies like Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, Infantry School at Mhow and Adhikar Training Academy at Chennai.

The move aims to include drone operations as a standard capacity for soldiers of all army organs of the army. On Thursday (September 18, 2025), the Chief of Army Staff visited a similar facility in Likabali, Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing the focus on the operation of drone capabilities of the Indian Army.

Strength like ‘Eagle in the arm’

Officials said that the Indian Army’s approach lies in the concept of ‘Eagle in the Arm’. The idea that every military should be able to drive a drone, just as he keeps his weapon. Depending on the work of the unit or soldier, drones will be used for war, monitoring, logistics or even medical clearance.

Anti-drone measures are also being incorporated parallel, causing a layered system to exploit and disable unmanned platforms. The emphasis on change was also clearly visible in the speech of Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi during the 26th Kargil Victory Day in Dras on 26 July 2025.

Battalion will be equipped with weapons

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had announced that each pedestrian battalion would have a drone platoon, artillery regiments would be equipped with anti-drone systems and loiter weapons and mixed divine batteries will be made to increase accuracy and survival.

The army chief had announced that our firepower would now increase manifold in the coming days and emphasized that the army is moving rapidly towards becoming an army ready for a modern and future.

Eagle and drone in the hands of soldiers

This double effort, which involves equipping soldiers with drones as well as strengthening anti-drone safety. The belief of the Indian Army shows that unmanned systems are no longer a specific element of the battlefield, but compulsory elements.

By institutionalizing the training, making units active and aligning force structures, the Indian Army is ensuring that the future soldiers will carry not only a weapon, but also an eagle, a drone, which will expand his vision, access and power in the battlefield.
