PM Modi and JP Nadda will decide the Vice President’s candidate, decided in NDA meeting

On behalf of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) i.e. NDA, the responsibility of selection of Vice Presidential candidate has been handed over to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda. The decision was taken unanimously on Thursday (7 August 2025) in the meeting of NDA leaders, under which the two leaders were authorized to decide the name of the appropriate candidate from the coalition.

Vice Presidential candidates will be decided soon

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has also released the notification of Vice Presidential elections today. According to the program released, the nomination process will run till August 21 and voting will be held on September 9 when more than one candidate comes to the fray. At present, no possible name was discussed in the NDA meeting, but it is believed that soon the name of the candidate will be given to the NDA leaders from the Prime Minister and BJP President.

India coalition leaders meeting

On the other hand, in the opposition India alliance, the stir on this issue has intensified. A dinner has been organized on Thursday (7 August 2025) at the residence of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. Although this meeting is informal, but now when all the big leaders are meeting at one place of India alliance, there is every possibility that the possible candidate for the post of Vice President will also be discussed here. However, at the moment there is two opinion about this in the opposition.

Two votes in India alliance with Vice Presidential candidate

The first opinion is that the candidate should field so that the NDA candidate does not get the walkover and the second vote should be fielded only when it is assessed that the India alliance candidate can give a tough fight to the NDA candidate. At present, discussions have started about the Vice Presidential candidate and his name in both the alliances. Soon the picture will be revealed whether the next Vice President of the country will be elected unopposed or the picture will be clear after the voting on 9 September.
