PM Modi paid tribute to Manipur’s BSF jawan Deepak, said- Veer son played an important role in Operation Sindoor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Manipur on Saturday (September 13, 2025). Here he said that Manipur has contributed significantly to India’s defense and freedom struggle. He described Manipur as a ‘land of heroes’ and saluted the sacrifice of its people. PM Modi called the violence a serious injustice and met everyone to take Manipur on the path of development and peace.

PM Modi paid special tribute to BSF constable Deepak Chingkham of Manipur, who was martyred in Pakistan’s firing in RSpura sector of Jammu and Kashmir on 10 May. He said, ‘We will always remember the sacrifice of martyr Deepak Chingkham.’ Along with this, the Manipur government decided to give a special state government job to the martyr’s family and they were given financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh.

Role of Manipuri soldiers in Operation Sindoor
Referring to the recent operation vermilion, Prime Minister Modi said, ‘The world has seen the strength of the Indian Army. Our army shook the army of Pakistan. Manipur’s brave sons and daughters also contribute to this success.

PM Modi said- Manipur’s special contribution to freedom struggle
Recalling the contribution of the people of Manipur, the Prime Minister said that from hoisting the tricolor by the Indian National Army to the recent military campaign ‘Operation Sindoor’, Manipur was always ahead for India’s defense and freedom. He cited Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, describing how he described Manipur as the door to India’s independence.

Strict message on violence
PM Modi said, ‘Any kind of violence in Manipur is very unfortunate. This is injustice to our ancestors and generations to come. We have to pursue Manipur towards peace and development and we will all do this work together.

Contribution to Manipuri Culture and Sports
The Prime Minister also appreciated the contribution of Manipuri culture and sports. He said, ‘Indian culture is incomplete without Manipuri culture, and the games of India are also incomplete without Manipuri players.’
