PM Modi will address top military committee conference for the first time after Operation Sindoor
Four months after Operation Sindoor and in West Bengal, there is going to be a Combined Commanders Conference (September 15–17) at Fort William (now Fort Vijay) in Kolkata (now Fort Vijay) in West Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself will inaugurate this top military commanders including the Defense Minister, NSA, CDS and the three heads of the army.
In the Joint Commander Conference (CCC) to be held once in two years, the three Army’s Army, Air Force and Navy top military commanders review the country’s defense-security topics and formulate an operational strategy. The purpose of the conference is to promote coordination, cooperation and integration in all three organs of the army.
Exchange of ideas at strategic levels
The CCC is the top level thought-brain platform of the armed forces and brings the country’s top citizens and military leadership together to exchange ideas at ideological and strategic levels. According to the Ministry of Defense, this year the theme of the conference is ‘Year of reforms- changes for the future’.
Defense Minister, National Security Advisor, Minister of State for Defense, Chief of Defense Staff and Defense Secretary will also attend this conference. Apart from the officers of the three armies and integrated defense staff, the secretaries of other ministries are also expected to be present in it.
India’s open challenge to Pakistan
During Operation Sindoor (6-10 May) India, India had a decisive military lead over Pakistan and destroyed a large number of terrorist hideouts and airbase, but PM Modi clearly stated that Operation Sindoor has been stopped and Pakistan will again be considered as a war against India. In such a situation, the role of forces in the changed strategy against terrorism will also be discussed in the CCC.
It is noteworthy that only last week, there was a conflict situation in the Eastern Command of the Mamta government of West Bengal and the Eastern Command of the Army (Headquarters in Fort Williams). The army had removed the stage by stopping the ruling party rally at a ground in Kolkata.
Allegations of driving from Laparwahi
This ground is under the Eastern Command, but has been used for civil programs. Subsequently, the Kolkata police seized the army truck on charges of driving in Laparwahi. However, the military truck was released after the intervention of senior officials.
The Ministry of Defense issued an official statement saying that CCC-2025 will focus on improvement, change, changes and operational preparations in the armed forces. All these things reflect the commitment of the armed forces towards institutional reforms, intensive integration and technical modernization. Along with this, multi-regional operations maintain high levels of readiness.
To further strengthen armed forces
According to the Ministry of Defense, the purpose of deliberations will be to further strengthen the armed forces, which are consistently complicated in the geo-politics (geo-corporate) scenario. Continuing the tradition of inclusive engagement at the conference, there will be a communicable session with officers and personnel of various ranks of the armed forces. This will ensure that the field-level approach enrich the discussions at the highest level.
