‘Put boards – indigenous goods sold here’, PM Modi gave a big message from Ahmedabad on Trump’s tariff

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has again appealed to adopt indigenous goods and promote ‘Made in India’. He described it as not only economic self -reliance but part of patriotism. This message of Modi came amidst the upcoming festivals and global trade stress, in which he insisted on distance from foreign goods.

PM Modi said in Ahmedabad on Monday (August 25, 2025) that traders should put up a large board outside their establishments, which states that ‘indigenous’ items are sold here. Modi gave this message in view of the upcoming festivals like Navratri, Vijayadashami, Dhanteras and Deepawali.

Appeal to adopt indigenous
Modi said that these festivals are part of our culture, but they should also celebrate self -sufficiency. He urged everyone that whatever items will be purchased, they should be ‘Made in India’ and indigenous. He also asked the traders not to sell foreign goods.

PM Modi connected Swadeshi with patriotism
The Prime Minister said that even small steps can make a big contribution in the progress and prosperity of the country. He said that traders should feel proud that they have written ‘I get indigenous’. This campaign of Modi is part of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Make in India’.

Global trade and political reference
Modi made this appeal in the context of an additional 25% fee imposed by the US on oil purchases from Russia. On the import of Russian oil, Trump has announced 25 percent and tariffs in addition to a tariff of 25 percent on India. In this context, PM Modi said that India emphasizes its sovereignty and adopting indigenous goods is national service.
