A PIL (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court, requesting an independent inquiry under the supervision of the court on June 12 under the supervision of the flight number AI 171 of AI 171. This petition has been filed by Captain Amit Singh (FRAES) -led aviation safety NGO ‘Constitution by Safety Matters Foundation’.
It has been alleged in the petition that the official inquiry violates the fundamental rights of access to the life, equality and real information of the citizens. The aircraft accident investigation bureau (AAIB) released its preliminary report on July 12, in which fuel control switches of both engines moved from ‘run’ to ‘cutoff’ position in a interval of one second, which led to immediate decrease in the height of the aircraft.
Important information hidden in the report
It alleges that the report has hidden important information in the report, including the full ‘Digital Flight Data Records’ (DFDR) output, ‘Cockpit Voice Records (CVR) Transcript’ and ‘Electronic Aircraft Fault Recording’ (EAFR) data.
The PIL has criticized the report to underestimate systemic discrepancies and to blame the pilot’s mistake for the accident. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft going to London started losing speed soon after flying from Ahmedabad Airport on 12 June and crashed after hitting a medical college hostel.
