Rahul Gandhi was visiting the flood affected areas of Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts. He visited Ghonwal in Amritsar and Gurchak village in Gurdaspur and met the flood victims there, but when they started going to the border village located across the Ravi river, the police stopped them.

In a video revealed on social media, Rahul Gandhi appeared to question police officers. He said, “You are telling me that you cannot keep me safe on India’s land. Do you want to say this?” The police officer replied, “We are always ready for your safety.” On this, Rahul Gandhi turned back and said, “Then why are you saying that this is the area of ​​India and you cannot keep me safe there? Is it not India?” Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wading and MP Sukhjinder Randhawa were also present with him during this time.

Congress leaders accused

Punjab Congress President Raja Wading said that Rahul Gandhi only wanted to meet people and listen to their problems, but the police stopped them citing security reasons. He questioned, “If Rahul Gandhi is threatened by Pakistan in India and is not safe here too, where will it be safe?”

Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi also expressed displeasure over the Punjab government and said that Congress workers have been running medical camps there for the last three days, yet Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to meet the flood -affected families.

Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa, describing it as shameful and insensitive, alleged that it was not a matter of security but a political decision so that the government could avoid accountability. He said, “People living near Seema are also our countrymen. Just because they live near the border, it does not mean that they are not entitled to help.”

Opposition directly targeted AAP government
