Rohit Krishna became the 89th Grandmaster of India. He won this achievement by winning the Almaty Masters Konaev Cup in Kazakhstan. 20 -year -old Rohit defeated Armenian IM Artur Dawatyan in the last round and scored 6 out of nine, leading to his third and final GM Norm.

On Tuesday, Indian chess player Rohit Krishna S became the 89th Grandmaster of India. He won this achievement by winning the Almaty Masters Konaev Cup in Kazakhstan.

20 -year -old Rohit defeated Armenian IM Artur Dawatyan in the last round and scored 6 out of nine, leading to his third and final GM Norm.

Rohit, trained by K Visvesvaran, won his first GM criteria in March this year by winning the Hotel Stockholm North GM Rounder-Robin tournament. At the same time, his second GM norm came to Dubai Open in June.

Let me tell you, India got the first Grandmaster in 1988 as Vishwanathan Anand. While Divya Deshmukh became the 88th Grandmaster of the country with a historic victory in the Fide World Cup last month.
