Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated 184 new type-VII multi-storey flats for MPs (MPS) on Baba Khadak Singh Marg in Delhi. The objective of this project is to meet the shortage of modern, environmental-interest and adequate housing for MPs. On this occasion, the Prime Minister planted a sindoor plant in the premises, interacted with the workers involved in the construction and addressed the gathering.
On this occasion, PM Modi said, “Today I had the privilege of inaugurating the residential complex for my allies in Parliament. The names of four towers are – Krishna, Godavari, Kosi and Hooghly, which are the four great rivers of India … Some people will find it uncomfortable to keep the name of the tower. They will not see it as a river …”
Modern and self -sufficient housing complex
Talking about the flats inaugurated by PM Modi, this new type-VII residential complex has been made completely self-sufficient, in which all modern facilities are available for the residential and official needs of MPs. Given the limited land in the capital, the option of tall buildings was opted, so that the land could be maximum utilized and the cost of maintenance is also low.
Detailed and convenient flats
Each flat has a carpet area of about 5,000 square feet, including the office, separate housing for the staff and the living space. According to government information, these flats are bigger than the type-VIII bungalow in size, which are considered the best category of government housing.
Community and Green Technology Facilities
The campus also has a community center, which will be the center of social and official meetings of MPs. Green technology has been used in the building, it has received the GRIHA 3-Star rating and is in line with the National Building Code (NBC) 2016.
Earthquake and safe building
All buildings have been made an earthquake-resistant according to modern structural standards. A strong security system has been installed for the safety of MPs and their families. The campus is disabled-friendly, which reflects inclusive housing design.
