An aircraft of the Air India Express going from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad had to land in an emergency here on Thursday (September 18, 2025) after allegedly colliding with a bird in the middle air. There were 103 passengers in the aircraft, an officer gave this information.
Visakhapatnam Airport Director N Purushottam said that the flight number of Air India Express IX 2658 requested to take off the aircraft in an emergency and instead of going to Hyderabad, he returned to Visakhapatnam by middle way.
Office of collision with a bird during flight
Purushottam told ‘PTI’, ‘After flying from Visakhapatnam, the pilot reported some problems in the engine. He requested to land the aircraft in an emergency and returned to Visakhapatnam. The aircraft was taken safely. All the passengers aboard in it are safe.
He informed that the aviation company is making alternative arrangements to take passengers to Hyderabad. According to Purushottam, the aircraft left for Hyderabad from Visakhapatnam at 2.38 pm and returned at 3 pm. He said that during this period the aircraft traveled only 10 knots and there is a suspicion that the incident of collision with the bird occurred while flying.
The problem will be known after examining the aircraft
However, the airport officials feared that the problem in the engine of the plane could cause the bird to collide with the bird. However, a safe landing of the plane has been done at Visakhapatnam Airport. After this incident, an alert was also issued at the airport. Investigation is being done on the problem of the aircraft.
